Ayungin Shoal has been an issue over several months because it seemed that China claimed this part of an island that particularly belongs to the Philippines. The latest news development about Ayungin Shoal is that the Philippine government continued their claim in this island despite of several harassments from the Chinese government. As you know, the Ayungin Shoal became a shipyard for warships during the World War II and Philippines claim that this particular island is in their territory. This issue was later on raised to the Department of Foreign affairs and I am hoping that this particular issue will be resolved soon to avoid further conflicts between two countries.

Philippines is still holding their ground towards Ayungin Shoal because it would later on be a great tourist destination or should I say a tourist attraction and the country could also benefit for it. There were also reports that are saying that this particular island is rich in oil and that’s the main reason why China is fighting for its territorial benefit as well. But the United States doesn’t want any conflict that would happen in both countries that’s why as a part of the latest news development of this particular land, the United Nations are taking actions for it.

The Ayungin Shoal is located alongside the island of Palawan and from that perspective, it is quite clear who can claim the territory but China insisted that the location of the Ayungin Shoal belongs to their jurisdiction because it is a part of South China Sea already. An oil-rich island, that refers to the Ayungin Shoal that’ why the Philippines would really like to claim this island and based on the records, it is clear that Philippines really owns this particular island. I am hoping that legal actions will take place and it will be a peaceful one in order to avoid conflicts in both countries especially the Philippines.
